Methodology & Limitations

Data Collection
Voting records are compiled from publicly available council meeting minutes and local government transparency portals. Key policy votes were selected based on alignment with Reform UK's published manifesto commitments.
Key Limitations
  • Data availability: Not all councils publish voting records online; this is a sample of available data
  • Incomplete coverage: Only 4 of 25 Reform-controlled councils included; others have limited public records
  • Selection bias: Key votes selected based on policy relevance; may not represent full voting patterns
  • Temporal lag: Data current as of March 2026; ongoing votes not captured
  • Context missing: Voting records do not capture debate, amendments, or local circumstances
Why This Section Is Limited
Comprehensive council voting records would require: (1) scraping 300+ individual council websites, (2) parsing inconsistent data formats, (3) manual verification of voting records, and (4) ongoing maintenance as new votes occur. This is not scalable without dedicated infrastructure or FOI requests to each council. This section represents a sample of available data to demonstrate voting patterns where records are publicly available.
How to Access Full Records
Individual council voting records can be accessed through each council's transparency portal (usually linked from the council website under "Meetings & Decisions" or "Democratic Services"). For bulk data requests, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests can be submitted to individual councils.
Data quality note: This section represents a sample of available council voting records. Comprehensive coverage of all 25 Reform-controlled councils is not feasible without dedicated infrastructure or FOI requests. See limitations above for details.
